About your CounsellorAs a therapist I have a warm and empathetic approach and I am committed to providing a safe space, where clients feel comfortable and not judged. I believe central to the work is the relationship, I therefore aim to help you feel at ease and accepted, so that difficult issues troubling you can be explored.
I am a qualified and experienced psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist and work mainly from a psychodynamic perspective with your past and present experiences. However, because I believe each individual client comes with their own unique situation and personal challenges. I use a range of techniques and tools from other model so that sessions are tailored to support you, with the difficulties you are currently experiencing, enabling you to find a way to move forward.
I hold a BA (Honours) Degree in Integrative Counselling from the University of Greenwich and a Higher Education in Psychodynamic Counselling from the University of Surrey and have recently covered a Counselling Supervision course.
As a practitioner I am dedicated to continued professional development and regularly attend additional training and workshops.
Certificated courses attended are DASH (Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Honor Based Violence) Training Masterclasses, Counseling Supervision, Sand Tray Workshop, Reflective Practice Counselling Supervision, Couples Counselling, Working with the Couple in mind. Working with Dissociative Disorders, Complex trauma, Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse, Mindfulness, Survivors of Domestic Abuse - including coercive control and physical and sexual violence, Sex and Intimacy, Working with Personality Disorders, Pornography and Addiction, CBT, Chronically Depressed, Mentalisation based therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and several more.
I hold an Enhanced DBS, have experience of Life story work and working with children.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and abide by the association's professional code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, including their complaints procedure.
ExperienceAlongside my private practice for several years I have worked as a therapist at a local Mental Health Trust and two Charity centres.
At present I am training to be a Clinical Supervisor. I have experience working with a wide range of people from all backgrounds. I embrace diversity and inclusivity. I work with couples, individual and young people.
Prior to becoming a counsellor I worked for over twenty years in education and with Social services with children and families.
